A packed weekends programme for Lent Term

Wed, Jan 8th, 2025

A trip to London’s thrilling glass elevator, a visit to Greenwich Market, an escape rooms experience and a roller disco on campus are among the attractions on our Lent Term weekends programme for boarders.

In October 2024 Worth was named Boarding School of the Year at the Independent Schools of the Year awards and part of the reason for that was the extensive weekends programme offering activities, social events and trips on Friday evenings, Saturday daytime, Saturday evenings and Sundays. The programme is open to day students as well as boarders.

The Sunday programme offers a range of trips such as a visit to Battersea Power Station Lift 109, a glass elevator which goes up 109 metres, offering fantastic, unobstructed views of London. This Sunday there is a visit to Tulleys Escape Rooms and next week there is an outing to Brighton, with an opportunity to visit the historic lanes, do some shopping or go on the pier. The programme this term also includes visits to the Sea Life Centre in Brighton and Greenwich Market.

A bingo night launches our Friday evening programme this week, with a roller disco and a dodgeball arena set up in the Sports Hall also on the programme this term.

Saturday daytime options include go-karting in Crawley this weekend, ten pin bowling, visits to Kings Entertainment Centre at East Grinstead and a trip to Laser World as well as onsite activities, revision sessions, study options and the Worth Leadership Formation course for Year 12 which all students wishing to be prefects have to undertake.

Worth has a dedicated Head of Boarding who oversees the Saturday evening programme which this term includes a ‘fast food fun bus’ to Crawley, social events for Years 9, 10 and 11, a Chinese new year celebration, a movie night in the Performing Arts Centre, a live sports night in the Pitstop, FIFA tournaments and a board games night.

Our weekends programme opens up a range of opportunities.

The pictures show a funfair set up in the Front Quad at Worth as a Friday evening attraction earlier in the academic year plus a previous visit to Greenwich Market in September.
