Butler House is situated in the heart of the School, which is extremely helpful when it comes to the boys arriving at their lessons on time and being first in the queue for lunch and supper!
Following extensive refurbishments to convert the House from a full-boarding house to a day and flexi boarding house, we have successfully completed the transition and have enjoyed the last two years in the House’s new guise and identity. The atmosphere in the House is one of genuine community, fun and integration amongst all the year groups and types of students. The Butler boys are very much focused on their studies, but we do feel it is also important that they enjoy their down-time. Our House motto, Omnia possibilia sunt credenti meaning ‘all things are possible to him that believes’, neatly sums up the aim of life in Butler. We seek to foster a genuine commitment to the welfare of all; an enthusiasm for life in all its aspects, combined with compassion, kindness, consideration and respect for others.
We take fundraising for charity seriously and have supported a number of initiatives in recent years. We hold regular House activities and social events for both pupils and parents, with some highlights including coffee and cake mornings, a summer afternoon of tennis, boule and barbecue, and FIFA, pool and table football tournaments.
Mr Bruce Morrison (pictured) took up the post of Butler Housemaster in September 2019. Mr Morrison is a PE & Games and Maths teacher who was formerly Deputy Housemaster in Butler for several years. Mr Morrison is ably supported in the House by Flexi Boarding Tutor Mr Dan Weaver, Matron Kerry Makepeace and a tutor team of Mr Weaver (Year 9), Mr David Marks (Year 10), Mr Glen McPheat (Year 11), Mrs Danielle Gwynne (Year 12), Mrs Olivia Carter and Mr Kieran Elson (Year 13).
