Field trip explores rivers

Mon, Jun 30th, 2025

Pupils in Year 7 Geography supported their studies of rivers by going on a day trip to explore River Tillingbourne, which runs along the south side of the North Downs.

The pupils studied different elements of the river by looking at velocity, shape and size of the river channel and how this changes downstream. They worked in small groups to collect lots of data at three points along the river and then compared the data back in the classroom.

The field trip was organised to support the outside learning of the topic of rivers studied in Year 7 where pupils look at the physical processes and human impacts of a river from source to mouth.

Every year pupils at Worth take part in a wide variety of educational trips and visits to support their studies.
